Promise and Request
if ever you forget the way,
i’ll leave a light on every day.
and if your heart begins to roam,
my love will always lead you home.
you don’t have to say a word—
just stay, and let me be heard.
this is my promise, this is my vow:
to love you through the then and now.
when time turns quiet, cold, or cruel,
i’ll still be here, holding true.
and all i ask, with open chest—
is love me back.
that’s my request.
if distance grows between our hands,
i’ll wait across the shifting sands.
and when the world forgets our names,
i’ll whisper yours just the same.
you don’t need to chase the sun—
just look my way, and i’ll become
the one who stays when all feels lost,
who carries love despite the cost.
when silence wraps the loudest days,
i’ll still be here, come what may.
and all i ask, with no pretense—
is hold me close.
that’s my request.
i won’t need grand or golden signs,
just you and me, through borrowed time.
so if you break, or bend, or fall—
i’ll be the one
who loves through all.
this is my promise, soft and true:
i give my soul, my heart, to you.
in every storm, through every test,
i'll love you more, and never less.
and all i ask, with nothing less—
is love me too.
that's my request.
