Nice limerick, Duke. Presidents' Day shopping is a big deal to many. Just another day to me. Retired and I have about everything I need.

Bill, we have that in common (retirement). I want nothing material that I don't already have. There are many things much more important for the time left to enjoy it. Like you, I don't make too much of a big deal over these holidays. They tend to put pressure on people in some way.

Regina, this is a very empathetic and kind comment! We who do shop using Amazon have a lot of good company. It does enable a lot of interesting purchases when we want do something unusual and has the ability to save a lot of travel.

Well thought out title, that should make people think, especially the young fresh out of schooling. Shopping for a credit union CD is probably not on most people's lists.

You got that right David. It's very hard to think long term with the crazy bombardment of ads everywhere. I'm surprised we don't have the Mt Rushmore faces talking about what we should buy or having "old faithful" at Yellowstone spew Mountain Dew.

Andrea, I see amazon boxes everywhere on paper recycling days. It's grown incredibly. I know some people that only shop there.

Is that an actual thing, the presidents day? I know they have things like black friday and now cyber monday to encourage people to shop... i am not one to indulge in such things.. another great limerick, my friend..

As Andrea noted it is a bank holiday. It's also one of the 11 paid federal holidays in the USA. It mainly honors George Washington and possibly Abraham Lincoln. I am glad you liked it!

A quick limerick that defines a change in America. I get a lot of catalogs, so I buy from them, but I do like hands-on in person experience of malls. I like your limericks.

Hilda, yes shopping is a big deal and it is and has changed. I also like catalogs. When we travel, we see malls that have unique stores. One in upstate NY had a variety of pianos for sale. It was a pleasure just looking at how they were finished. In Montreal, we love the Jean-Talon market. It's unlike almost anything we have in USA. A great place to try or buy different food.

Ah that urge to shop on specific days, youve expressed and described that so well here. I love the rhymes and the picture youv used too here is so fitting! Always something different from you. I find online shopping harder but at the same time, it’s addictive when you start doing it. Amazon made a stop to it. That last line made me smile! Brilliant limerick again dear duke! IE, I try to purchase only things I really need and watch ads with some amusement. The poem is mine, but an artificial intelligence engine generated the picture after I sent it the poem. Shades of things to come. BTW, you are most kind with your comments. I do try to write about a multitude of things.
