LOL, scared myself writing this one!

Screech of owl with shrieking caterwauling doesn’t startle me at all until wings shroud the sky. My blessed-courage takes cover real fast as the rodent alongside’s encroached on by talons. The thick presence of the owl says don’t look, turn a blind eye to his kill as neck turns one slick eye. He has no taste for human flesh except if two legs gets in his way - predatory suspense.

Ah, this is kind of dark and scary..... "until wings shroud the sky"- you wouldn't think of wings in that way normally...ingenius, :)

Those owls at night almost silently flying through the air. You did a great job of conveying the suspense and fear that one feels when one flies close by. Thanks for sharing it with us. Sara K

Great hunters! Apparently rodents are better for eyesight than carrots. Hum...no, I will stick to carrots and eyeglasses. Enjoyed your poem very much. Chilling...and for some others deliciously, filling. Yuck!

The owl must eat too or it won't survive. Lovely poem.

Great writing, Kim. Cool ending with the possibility of the owl getting some human taste if you get in his way!

What a foreboding mood you portray. I have always felt more prey then predator. In my dreams I'm always on the run seeking safe harbor. Well done! Robert

The haunting aura curdling throughout this write is quite intriguing. " The thick presence of the owl says don’t look, turn a blind eye to his kill as neck turns one slick eye" the ominous picture painted is unusual and suspenseful~ ..

Thank you! After I wrote that part, I had to walk away for a bit…lol. We did have an owl that we spied in a tree, land on the railing of our front steps and look at my husband.
