Precious Pearl
A soft whisper, across the room
I watched her shake out the old broom
Please come over to me mister
Across the room, a soft whisper
I walked her way, she smiled at me
In her presence I felt so free
Looking in her eyes made my day
She smiled at me, I walked her way
A simple girl, natural beauty
She asked "Are you bound by duty?
Can you please help me find my pearl?"
Natural beauty, a simple girl
I said "gladly, for but one kiss
to taste your lips, would be my bliss."
"Do you wish for me so badly?"
"For but one kiss" I said gladly
Down on one knee, I searched the ground
I prayed for her pearl to be found
For with her, I wanted to be
I searched the ground, down on one knee
A precious pearl, held in my hand
Her lips were then, mine to command
She was a woman not a girl
Held in my hand, a precious pearl
I watched her turn, she walked away
She said "dear sir you've had your pay
Within my chest, my heart did burn
She walked away, I watched her turn
For Andrea Deitrich's
"Swap Quatrain Contest"
I kept all the lines to eight sylables to
further challange myself. This was a tough
but fun one to write Andrea.
