Precious Beauty

PRECIOUS BEAUTY Joe and me went to a local Christmas ball Just looking for a couple of girls, that’s all Saw two girls standing together there One had dark hair the other fair Dark one had crystal blue sapphire eyes Which sparkled in constant surprise And below these gems were her lips luscious Red as rubies but much more precious And between these jewels were teeth pearls To easily outshine those of other girls She wore the simplest of pink dresses And had no stones to adorn her dark tresses Joe said later he admired the fair one And the lovely jewels she had on Strange but I never noticed her at the ball I was rapt by the dark one with no jewels at all.
