Praise be known
Should we give thanks and praise?
My dog doesn’t think so
He licks my hand when hungry
only to fall asleep when fed
Barks to go outside
and do his…. business
mostly when I’m in bed
Anyway I don’t care
I’m human, and don’t need
thanks from a dog
It’s quite simple
if I thrive, he thrives
if I don’t he’s dead
So should we offer thanks and praise
to our unseen masters
AKA the gods?
Not that I’m ungrateful for
life’s little luxuries
Just unsure why
adoration is required
Gods already possess everything
immortality, omnipotence,
omnipresence, time travel,
Can change the past,
make our future unravel
Even replay history
relive the mystery?
So who actually came up
with the idea of worship
Which often turned into
sacrifice along the way
No doubt emperor’s and king’s
created gods to control the masses
or to blame them
for their own shortcomings,
As usual common man paid the price
Heads off….rejoice!
Still this doesn’t apply nowadays?
We have our own demigod abilities
Same difference being
we also bend the rules
Why?
Because we can!
We intervene in nature,
invent, adapt,
make things fit together
from bits of scrap,
Heal people
Enhance life
while destroying it too!
So am I saying there’s no god?
Absolutely not!
I’m simply casting doubt
on man’s motives for worship
Look, I’m pouring my heart out here
trying to grasp the bigger picture
questioning everything
Why?
I feel compelled
Just like my dog tilts his head
when unsure about certain signals
It’s so cute!
but no erm…
he also tries bite flies
that encroach upon his skies
My understanding is simple
God can do anything
we mortals believe he can do,
No exception!
It’s true
So what about the devil?
Oh him!
he’s very real
Can’t you see him
in the detail
right here!
Just don’t kneel!
