Hannah Adderley jumped with a wail
from the clifftop at Middleton Dale
but her petticoats cute
made a great parachute
for a soft landing, wow! What a tale!


(Hannah, of Stoney Middleton, Derbyshire, had been jilted at the altar
and although her suicide attempt was a failure she died of natural causes
 two years later in 1764)

Nice write Viv. Not many guys deserve someone like that. Take for instance my wife, last time I insulted her and she tried to commit suicide, she slipped and accidentally cut me (at least she said it was an accident).

A close thing, James. My missus tried to kill herself by suffocating her fist with my mouth. Fortunately gave up after repeated attempts. regards, Viv

When I say 'soft' landing, it was one of the thorn bushes at the base of the cliff, but she survived all the same. A bit Warner Brother's cartoonish, but miraculous all the same. Thanks for dropping by, nette. Viv x
