Pooh Bear - Dare
Alan Alexander Milne wrote books
about his son, Christopher Robin, and his toys.
There was a tiger, a piglet,
a kangaroo and her joey, a donkey,
and a bear, Winnie the Pooh.
Christopher Robin named his bear
after a black bear at London zoo.
The original Winnie was bought
from a hunter in Canada;
she became a regiment’s mascot
in World War One, and was donated
to the zoo after the war.
Later drawn with a short red sweater,
revealing his rotund tummy,
Winnie the Pooh became a household name.
