Senryu, is agood choice for capturing their last moments. I think poets can see and feel these past tragedies in the present moment. Its difficult to walk away. I couldnt walk away from Winstons andClementines, grave sight .Thank you for your comment on The Antique Store

That is the exact word to use Barry it is haunting to see their contorted bodies and the terror on their faces is evident for all to see:-( hugs jan xx

Jan, this poem is very good. I really liked it. So you are in Pompeii? I've never been out of the country except for Canada with my husband. Maybe someday we'll go somewhere. Now that Abigail is in college. Lovely. Emma :)

Hi Emma oh it is so lovely to see YOU visit. I hope you will consider putting pen to paper and amaze us with your words :-) Yes we are in Italy the Amalfi coast is spectacular and I achieved my bucket list dream of visiting Pompeii but I was surprised that I preferred Herculaneum as it is better preserved and the mosaics and frescos are stunning. If you ever get the chance to visit Italy it can highly recommended it:-) Hope Russel is making good progress:-) hugs Jan xx

Isn't it just astounding that we can see their emotions, etched on their faces, as they went through this historic and horrendous event eons ago? An amazing write Jan. A beautiful senryu that captures these sad moments vividly. I enjoyed your great poem this evening :)

Thanks so much Susan it is incredible they have managed to excavate both Pompeii and Herculaneum and so much is preserved especially murals and mosaic floors. they are still doing archaeological work on both sites and I read an article recently that with technology they are now able to scan the bodies . hugs jan xx
