Poet's Desire

Inspiration -- poet's desire Struck by lightning, pen now on fire He roams the world, for it to seek To catch a glimpse, a tiny peek Of its bright flame, leaping higher A poet's quite a hard trier As he sweats over words and tires Just to write as smooth as he speaks Poet's desire O, for a sweet musical lyre Words that sing, a heavenly choir For his verse is lacking mystique As it's so much more than technique Inspiration's hard to acquire Poet's desire July 21, 2019 Rondeau Poetry Contest Sponsor: Charles Messina

'Words that sing, a heavenly choir' - brilliant line, your piece so well describes the journey we poets go through for the sake of our art, best of luck in the contest, gw!

Hi Gershon, Inspiration to write a poem is so welcome - I got up at 1.a.m. this morning to write down the title of a poem which I will complete one day soon. A creative write and understanding between Muse and poet. Hugs, Jennifer.

I see that we have different priorities: You get up at 1:00 a.m. to write down a title for a poem. I get up at the same time to first go to the bathroom. While I'm on the pot, a poem hatches. LOL. Thanks for sharing, Jennifer. :) gw

Thank you for your gracious estimation of this write, Pandita...Now if you want to read a really amazing entry for this contest, try Kim Rodriques' entry. It really knocked my socks off. Thanks again and best wishes, Gershon

Thank you so much, Kim... I really feel, objectively, that my 'Poet's Desire' doesn't hold a candle to your rondeau. I am so taken with what you wrote. Best wishes, gw

Once I finish a poem... I get a little depressed. I'm thinking I will never ever have another idea. But sooner or later... inspiration sallys forth to fill the void. Great poem. Have a great day my friend.

You know, I feel that depression as I sit down to the keyboard. But, like you say, inspiration sallies forth somehow... Thanks for your kind words, David. Appreciated. Best wishes, Gershon
