Poetry of Ordinary Things

See how the sunlight comes across the table, touching my hand and the paisley coffee cup I emptied earlier, is refilled with a pouring of the same anointing light. I am enamored by ordinary things like that spoon catching a reflection, the blue bowl holding a few pieces of fruit and a smear of strawberry jam I have left on a plate. Even the fridge in the corner gurgling as if its stomach was empty, is in communion with me. Each morning I begin with this modest feast, give thanks, catalog the pieces in my poetry.

I think we may be like minded, poetically speaking. I, too, love the poetry of ordinary things and marvel in them each morning watching the sun filter through our home. I liked: Even the fridge in the corner gurgling as if its stomach was empty, is in communion with me. Your poetry resonates with me both in its simplicity and subtle messaging. Great joy....have a pleasant evening, Sara

I wouldn't have much else if I didn't give the ordinary a front 0row seat and a poetic blessing. Have always taken a lead from William Carlos Williams philosophy of "things"...although not his actual poetic voice. Its a way to becoming fully alive in the moment...to give the poem an immediacy. I try at least. Sincerest thanks for your comments Sara...sipped with my morning coffee.

Always a nice space to be in....a sense of the now, the immediate, where the most insignificant becomes impirtant and central. Lovely to read yr comments dear DD...take care.
