Poetry Is Like the Air I Breathe
I can not remember a time when I didn’t love to write.
Starting at age ten when l had a crush on a boy I knew.
Gradually my muse took a turn when life became blue,
and my quill ran wild with the yearning to see the light.
With every page in my journal, my gift of writing grew.
Poetry means to me what air means to others in life,
like water needed to survive, writing is my sole aim.
For it is not just a pastime but my inspiration’s flame.
When I became a mother and a dear loving wife
my passion for the love I felt I knew would never tame.
I never look behind with regret with each word written,
for my purpose is to inspirit others with my deep muse.
I pray that this true motivation I never begin to lose,
For I have grown into a woman who is definitely smitten.
I have so many gifts, and writing is the greatest I choose.
Words run through my veins like a bloodline to my heart.
Each syllable and metaphor my soul holds with desire.
Sometimes sorrow bleeds but love burns like ardor’s fire,
and no matter where I’ve been, poetry and I shan’t part.
From time to time this gift is something that I admire.
So, I pray that when you read my words you read my soul,
and see that poetry is what fills my heart until it’s full.
