Poetry, Ice Cream and Add

Words are three dimensional Coloured Textured Flavoured Three dimensions and more Bright notes Undertones And hidden accents Savoured As over my tongue they roll Poems like ice cream Melt in my mouth As idea bouquets unfurl And why I have trouble Reading long pieces The larger and harder they're served I get an ice cream headache Taking too big a bite Or they melt faster Than I can taste every word

I have a tee shirt that reads: They Say I Have ADD, But They Don't Understand. Look There's A Chicken.

Giggles. It's fun to come back. Just made me think, how some poems you write stay with you, others you forget all about. I just won a trophy (yay) for my first poem posted, which never leaves me. Still my favourite ever written. xomo

Coming from someone with ADD this makes all too much sense, “taking too big a bite, or they melt faster” is an awesome way to describe the difficulty for people with attention deficit to absorb information. Love, love, love this Maureen and it’s tasty enough to lick down down the cone!

Oh, this is wonderful, and I must share with my son, (ADD - me, OCD) ... I am now self-conscious, as MOST of my poems are "longer" ones, lol, (though I am endeavoring to write more shorter pieces of late). Love this - congrats, Dear Mo! :-) <3 (And Happy Valentine's Day, Luv!) ;-)

I love that you're sharing my work with your offspring :)) that is high praise! Thank you my friend. OCD huh, that is a tough one. I had a friend who suffered, it was horrible. The poor dear committed suicide. I wish you ease of being, and Happy belated VD to you sweetness! love and hugs mo xo <3

I still want three scoops of ice cream but just short poems float my boat unless the longer ones grab my attention from the start and I don't need a dictionary to read them:-) congrats on your win:-) hugs Jan xx

VERY clever!! I must have ADD too. I do not enjoy long poems. One look at them and I do not think I can swallow!! I just love that part about the idea bouquets . GREAT image.

Nice work, Maureen. Cute metaphor - the ice-cream headache applied to lengthy poetry. Right now it's a sinus headache that I am trying to avoid with anti-histamine. Doubt if it works, I don't have allergies that I know of.
