Notes About The Poem

My limericks, with commentary, are collected in Original Clean Limericks available from Amazon. See my book links.

“Skill in poetry is the principle part of education.”
               - Plato, Protagoras.

“Hymns to the gods and praises of famous men are the only poetry which ought to be admitted into our State.”
               - Plato, Republic, X.

Plato and the Poet

"Go," though, he says to the poet.
It's good to be good,
But be understood,
Best if you never do show it.
