Pink Butterflies

Breath Nuance Light Dark Dappled sunlight casting shadows I see you before me Riding bareback An elegant mare Swishing her tail through tall dry grasses Chocolate fur Gliding us to new beginnings A subtle breeze almost imperceptible Your hair blowing gently Haloed by glittering light, pollen and promises The savanna an alive carpet You turn to eye me A knowing glance A beckoning A calling A soundless kiss finds me My soul awakens Velvet rose petal messages arrive from the sky goddesses My heart unlatches Laughter flows within my veins Creating silent moist raindrops on my palms My thighs grip my horse more tightly Dusty red ancient rock surrounds us Taking us to worlds that have once been Kisses on the wind leading us deeper into the land Tricking water in the distance The smell of dust and mesquite and memories When did we first meet Was it here or in another lifetime My thoughts envelop me with wonder and ache I feel your kiss on my earlobe Coupled with the cawing of a hunting bird above I shiver Gazing upward shadows pass Opening a crack in the jagged skyscape Casting a radiant beam on my chest Transporting me to the day we walked through the dense undergrowth Damp green limey tendrils cascading around us Revealing a hidden path dotted with singing ladybugs A symphony of notes rising from the mossy carpet Sing to me dear ones Sing to me For your song fills my heart With joy and promise and hope We walk slowly making our way past lifetimes Of pain and sorrow and rebirth and passion Small bellied frogs hop along leading the way Dotting the path with neon yellow and delicious peach orange I chuckle and my heart expands I feel full and alive I am grateful for the journey I feel the warmth of your hand graze my hip I feel your breath creating dreamcatchers In the light behind me Your quiet words travel with me I glisten in sweat Children’s voices rise up I hear them in the distance Songs in a language I don’t understand The words float and dance into the air As they do I feel the love An eternal embrace Carried on the whispers of their souls We are close Ancestor trees move aside So that we may enter the clearing I kneel and open my arms I am surrounded by The pink butterfly children Each one smiling Pink clouds of butterflies surround them Silent tears stream down my cheeks. As I rise, I notice families, tribes and friends Elders and ancient ones The mesmerizing rose pink wings create A vibration that fills all of us with immeasurable gratitude Joining in a circle we hold hands and raise them up towards the heavens Bowing our heads as we become one heart beating together.

A new Susan write. Awesome. Pink butterfly children - so endearing and creative. In fact, this was some horseback ride! Do you have indigenous ancestry? I notice the recurring themes about native peoples in your writings. In any case this was/is a fantastic journey ending in warmth, unity, peace

Hi dear Tom, so wonderful to have you visit - thank you for your passionate comments. I do not have indigenous ancestry however I’ve spent many years documenting coming-of-age ceremonies of young Apache women so I feel a strong union with them. It’s been so long since I posted and I’ve really missed the community here. Thanks again hugs, Susan:)
