Pilgrim's Process
Pilgrim’s nightly enterprise
is an astral one -
searching the skies for
a glimpse of His Creator.
Like a sentry on patrol
he traverses his day
moment by moment
pleading forgiveness
for those insidious
thoughts, actions, words
which had disgraced his Lord.
He dampens each blemish,
each pernicious blemish.
one by one with his tears,
shameful, guilty tears.
He deposes all ruthless flaws
which mar the perfect visage
of the Christ he represents.
God’s mercy is beyond grasp.
Separation repaired,
now he can rest.
