Picture Frame Moment
PICTURE FRAME MOMENT
Everyone admires it as a sunset but it’s not -
It’s a sunrise taken one Rocky Mountain morning
When I was younger and free to go and come.
The far shapes frame the foothills, and in the distance
The limitless high plains of Alberta reeling away to the east,
Inviting me to plunge down into their vastness
And feel their purity in the early sun.
Pink sky, flawless as only the plains sky can be,
Hints of a long day to come, a picture etched forever
In our memory, for we decided long ago
That this would be our wedding day.
