Peace Like a River

Peace Like a river I had a very clear vision in my mind today, Of a river flowing and gently making it's way, To the sea where all rivers seem to flow The sea seemed to me to be a gathering of souls, Souls that had meandered down from places on high To meet in the place where the land meets the sky, There is strength in this gathering where peace can reign So I wondered why it is that this peace, we never attain. I went back to the river, to it's source to find what fault There may be to stop the flow of love from on high to the sea, There, about halfway the problem was a dam that I did find, It was built to stop the natural flow of water for all mankind. To provide power as fuel and water in times of drought. This in turn led me to thinking of the Power of Gods love, Sent freely for us to enjoy from heaven above. On it way from God to our hearts are the dams we make, The ones of envy and greed, they form in our hearts a lake, Of misery for those we should love but for granted take. We often need a dam to help halt the debris of life, Let God be that dam, His power can end all the strife. That the dams in your mind have caused you to feel, All the malice and hate, His river of love, can heal. The source of the river of love is God, as I see it myself, The sea is that place where He gathers us to himself. © Dave Timperley 16 September 2016
