Paulette - 1

You were our first-born, our sweet baby girl We named you Paulette, and I’ll never forget Holding you when you arrived on that wintry day So long ago, but then they told us you were gone, That we would not be taking you home, Paulette, Your little lungs were simply not strong enough Though you seemed perfect in every other way. Written for a contest, Delice. Although, I am very sympathetic toward young parents who lose a newborn.

Well, I'm glad it was heartrending. It was for the contest, but I never lost a newborn. Now, my sister did, and that was very, very sad.

So sad Milton, no parent should have to bury their child, life can be so cruel. Tom

Nothing is more horrible than losing an infant, and I hope this is merely a story, but if it is true, I understand how you felt so many years ago, Milton. And I'm sorry for what happened.

It's a story I wrote for the Paulette contest, but I think it is real for anyone who has lost a newborn they looked so forward to receiving into their family. Thanks, Lasaad.
