Paradise Lost

Upon a mountaintop, I stood and looked down on the sea and saw the world and understood and knew my mind was free Escaped the life where humans live to breathe the fragrant air to slow my time I won't outlive and hear my soul's despair I've seen the world for what it's worth and wore its ugly stains the smoke inhaled from concrete Earth the garbage that it contains A garden lost and uncontrolled we've burned the grand design replaced the forests with metal cold our cities are now our shrines A sadness filled my tearful eyes as I laid against a tree I sat and pondered until sunrise as I looked down on the sea 5/18/18
