Pangolins Oh precious little Pangolins How many people know of you? Though forty million years you've lived Your numbers have become too few. While hunted for your scales and meat By poachers, a great price they seek. You curl up in a little ball, Such easy prey because you're meek. Unless donations keep you safe Extinction soon will be your fate. My prayer is that to know of you The public will appreciate Your contribution to this Earth. Of ants and insects do you dine, A gentle creature of the wild. Your presence here is quite divine. © Connie Marcum Wong **Dedicated to Maria Diekmann who is devoted to saving the Pangolin and other individuals who are making a difference. *A Pangolin is captured every five minutes in Africa and Asia combined. Thank you Indiana. If we let creatures like this become extinct the ant population along with other insects our balance of nature becomes out of balance. Most people have never heard of them nor their plight. Thank you. xxoo

I can't do scaly things. I love you but I didn't even read - just looked at the pictures and pondered whether or not to tell you the truth. As you know, I decided to tell my truth by sharing my repulsion which includes my gag button to all things reptile. I sorry! Love ... CayCay

If you could just see the video they are not repulsive at all they are just adorable and they're not related to reptiles but two anteaters. They're very endangered. : )

A very interesting creature, a mammal that looks like a reptile, (maybe it's both) like the platypus, a testimony to our Creators genius. Thanks for your beautiful poem that highlights it's plight. Ditto to Carolyn's feelings about the poachers!!

Hi Connie...I checked out the links which you provided, and now I feel doubly sorry for the way these animals are being treated. You have done well to bring awareness to their plight. I, for one, had never heard of pangolins! Regards // paul

I had never heard of them either Paul. When I first saw them on Natgeo channel I thought the face looked like an ant-eater and it is in that family. They are such wonderful little creatures I hope they can be saved. Thank you Paul. : )

I drove for the first time yesterday. It has been six weeks since my total knee replacement. It was very difficult because the pain meds made me too sick so I was religated to taking only extra strength tylenol. I am finally able to enjoy reading poetry again and I am beginning to feel like my old self. Thank you for your comments which are much appreciated. Blessings, Connie

Hello Connie … a nice tribute for a harmless animal that doesn't deserve to be driven towards extinction because of greed - thank you Connie - Lindsay

A lovely tribute to an animal most people probably don't know exists. It's the poachers and greedy hunters who should be facing extinction. Thank you for bringing the pangolin to our attention! Hugs, Carolyn

A wonderful and intriguing tribute Mrs Connie but so sad. One of those poems that's makes a nature lover angry. I must check out the plight of the pangolin.

connie, I want to see the video but Joe is on his way home and I still have at least five comments to do! Oh, how little time in this life for all the things I want to do. I love this cute dedication poem to an interesting animal which looks so much like an anteater.

Nice write about another species facing possible extinction. This animal must be related to the North American armadillo.
