Painting At Kynance Cove
One of those days we rarely appreciate until later
I took my paints and walked to Kynance Cove
I had seen it from afar of course, but never up close
It was inspiring to the point of making me cry with hope
Breeze off the water gave me perfect day to paint.
I sat down to enjoy the view for a few minutes before beginning
The silence of the cove swept over me in sheer abject spiritual bliss
If I had not been so energized I would have had a bit of a nap
But this was morning and my adrenaline was pumping
I had been looking forward to this for a long time
A whole day to paint, from sunup to sunset.
I unrolled my paintbrushes and began with a flourish
Giving thanks to God for such a gloriously beautiful day
A day no canvas or poem could possibly capture
I knew this, but in spite of it, I was determined to try
Knowing I would never find a day like this again as long as I lived.
