Pain and Poetry

I come here as to a temple An old-fashioned thing Before Lisa, Joe, Paula, Jen I condemn false gods of pain Foul gods foretold in That Day When coupling will dishonor Jesus Coupling in lust, incest, vengeance And the greed of the End Time Join me in asking God to rebuke Cast out and away, demonic ways That have crept into Christian hearts I have repented, but it's not enough I share my shredded heart here Maybe it's pity, empathy, love, or prayer I seek in secular temples built on words

Thanks for sharing this. God bless you. Meanwhile, I greet you with a Joyous New Year with this prayer from the Bible in Numbers 6:24-26, "The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace."

"I share my shredded heart here..." This poignantly sums up the powerful message of this poem. Modern poetry is mostly a secular exercise struggling to reach for a deeper honesty. Yet, because of poets like you, readers will always pause to make important Biblical connections. I could be wrong, but I see that as a vital spiritual mission. -Thomas

this poem was so moving..it touched my heart in a special way. I, too, wonder what I seek sometimes...here in 'secular temple built on words.' Nicely done. Sara

My Dear Anil. I am sorry for being late in seeing your latest update. I make no excuses to you other than life life and life once more. I have no words to express my thoughts or emotions of what you have endured. I can't even begin or claim to understand the pain or emotions of what runs through you. I came to your page today not knowing of your update but to say you are missed and that I wanted to say I hope you and those around you are safe. Love Peace and Blessings always Anil. (smile)

I am glad to see a new one from you, Anil, this is so touching with its plea for peace and coming together, very profound to think of this as a 'secular temple built on words' - I would ask, ultimately, aren't they all?
