I originally wrote this as a Quatorzain, first as a new form for me, but it did not fit the 12 line requirement for the contest, so I rewrote it combining the last two stanzas as a Free Verse.
(Quatorzain)
Outside my window The earth shakes.
Loud roars of thunder crash as the lightening blinds my vision;
Nordic Gods warring in the darkened sky outside my window.
Outside my window The rain falls.
Raindrops form rivulets on the glass in the torment that rages;
Ever changing images through slow movie frames outside my window.
Outside my window The wind blows.
Limbs of trees create ghostly dances to the melody of the storm;
Star crossed lovers reach with leafy hands for longing embrace outside my window.
Outside my window The Flowers bloom.
Sweet Night Blooming Jasmine shivers in the cool damp air;
Beauty, fragility, strength outside my window.
People in the distance meandering aimlessly through the night.
Life goes on outside my window.
