Out of the Closet

The day I came out of the closet Was the day that freedom rang Stepping up to bat with the fact That something had to change While some may call me a sissy  A girly girl among men It is well worth all of that hurt To enjoy this life style I live Guaranteed I don't look any differently  At a glance you'd never know I still have the smile I've had all this while And I don't wear flamboyant clothes I still talk with a Southern draw Without the slightest hint of a lisp  If you're looking for a difference  You'd be hard pressed to find what that is But I'm waving the banner proudly  In case you didn't know it For all the world to see that yes this is me Out of the closet...I proudly am a poet

Jan, when I tell someone I write poetry, a glaze travels over their face. Different crowd, I guess.
