My poor Chicago Cubs (professional baseball) led their division for much of the year. Tonight they were clobbered by the worst team in the league, losing their seventh straight game, all in 'crunch time,' as they've slipped out of contention...

Hope starts a new season The players all breeze in Despair sets in for a reason Losing's just not pleasing

OUCH! (See I tried to make a louder ouch than Tom did) because I used to live in Chicago and I love ALL of the Chicago teams.

It sure is a huge OUCH this year. The Cubs floundered and then sunk. (They've now lost 8 games in a row, finishing the season with a whimper, instead of a bang). Oh, well. There's always 'next year.' :) gw
