Our Young Princess

Beacon towers, Stretch to the sky, She sits there for hours, Trying not to cry. Her true love cannot be, She given to another, She has been promised to marry, The way of her world, no other. She knows he is out there, But not who he is, He could be anywhere, She, our young princess. Now day after day, From high above, Watches the children play, But thinking of her love. For one day she will find him, And hope it is not too late The angels will sing their hymn, For she has finally met her mate. But time is running out For her wedding is soon, She can hear the children shout, And the song of the loon. Where oh where can he be, Somewhere close, Looking over the country Eyes now heavy she starts to doze Then a commotion down below, Who is this person, This handsome fellow, Maybe just maybe, he is the one. A handsome young prince, Has come to challenge, From a far off province, Her love he will scavenge.
