You are on my mind every night and day,
for I still feel your presence in my heart
And I do not know what to do or say,
your passing has torn my whole world apart.
Recalling all the happiness we've shared,
I had hoped to enjoy a few more years.
And though I told myself I'd be prepared,
my confidence dissolved in acid tears.
Your death has eclipsed the light of the sun;
I no longer feel life is worth living.
Helpless, there was nothing I could have done;
no one's at fault; no one needs forgiving.
I relished the romantic side of you;
holding hands on our walks, we never tired.
We lived a life fate has granted to few,
yet over the years, our time has expired.
Alzheimer's stole your memories each day
until, piece by piece, your thoughts fell apart.
And inevitably, Death had His way,
leaving a gaping hole within my heart.
