While we humans are living in fear,
those sweet cats and the dogs we hold dear
get added attention
since we’re in detention.
Pets are thrilled that Corona is here!

Our societies came to a crawl,
but the creatures are having a ball.
Gators saunter to stores.
Monkeys, goats, and wild boars
running free aren’t so dumb after all!

Surely, not so dumb. Well said. Andrea, Congrats. My haiku 'Recapture' tries to express similar sentiment. Mohan

Dear Andrea How amusing! A splendid Limerick. I like the idea of boars, leopards, wolves regaining command of regions, while humans are forced to 'hide inside'. A very touching aspect of virus duration, our pets benefit from our increased company. Heard on news just now that animal shelters for new adoptions are very busy. Thank you for your compliment on Haiku.

With the lockdown, pollution in cities is clearing up, the waters are cleaner, and 'the animals are having a ball '!..Very nice Lim Andrea..

I needed this lighthearted take (yes ... not EVERY thing is bad ... not when there's monkeys in the store!). Did you read that funny meme about the Dog and Cat. An article in the newspaper read: "We need to stay home!" written by a dog. Contrasted with, "We need to get back to work!" written by a cat. I thought it was rather humorous.

Hello Andrea … wonderfully written limericks indeed. The wildlife won't allow a vacuum so take full advantage of our situation - thanks Andrea - Lindsay

Well said, but now two pet cats in NYC have tested positive for novel coronavirus, its best to leave animals alone! Aloha! Rico
