Others Tears

I could write
what love is,
my list of
heartfelt dears

but no two alike

not matching yours
my dears

I could write
of hesitation…
why hearts close-off
for fears

but not a poem deep
enough, to catch and
contain

a world of others'
tears...

You are absolutely right dear Joe. Each one has his own grief which others may not know or perhaps never been expressed before anybody. For the very same reason, we cannot plumb into the depths of other's sorrow and can't write about it. So wisely said.

Thank you, Valsa; one can say more by simply implying, awakening the tacitly relatable, like you just expressed, in a reader. Were I to explicitly express my analysis of another's sorrows, it would not be nearly as emotive a poem. The consumer needs invested space for participation. That is the short coming, in a nut shell, with many motion pictures, plays, music (even) and novels of our day -- too much is said, heard, which actually is distraction and insult to the intelligence of the reader or audience. Effective art is as much controlled balance as it is exposition. Knowing when to put down the brush, so to speak. Blessings my friend.

Though the loves and tears of others are very diverse than that of the poet, sharing our own love and tears gives others something to compare with their own successes and failures. I like the thought: our tears are the words that our hearts and souls can't say / speak / write. Thanks for sharing this poem of deep feelings with us, Joe. Peace be with you, my friend. Bill

Hi Bill; I think you hit on it, it is the empathy expressed, the letting know that another cares. Yes! I love what Sara said: "Tears are words that the heart can't say." That says a volumes worth.

If we each seek rise above our woes and seek His tender love, we must ask that he clear the heart of the warmongers, and fill their hearts with love. Always remembering that sadness is life's window sill across which we see Heavens Hill and all will be revealed. Reach out and be by gladness healed.

For sure, pray for your enemies; seek the good in all people and situations to be revealed. Human empathy, often elicits sorry, a normal response. And self sacrifice for God and His Kingdom the required remedy. One's spiritual and civic duty.

You deal rightly on emotions. Love is so diverse. There is need of peace amongst couples.

Peace, so much less costly than war -- yet we allow our fears and lack of empathy to impoverish us. Blessings my friend.

Dear Joe, your poignant pen is deep and rich with emotion. I feel like tears of fears outweigh tears of joy which is very sad indeed.. too many tears of heartache in the world. A truly moving and thought-provoking piece. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Thank you, Susan; times like these, I am so grateful not to be God...with His joys also holding a universe of pain and suffering -- talk about, Gravity. Blessings my friend.

Sometimes words can never express how we feel or justify how things can break us or words to help others.. This is a real sad one my friend..

I know. Sad. It hurts. The greater part of the world is barely surviving -- hunger, crime, war pervasive throughout.
