She Felt some Emotion Because she had been Left orphaned, at age five Her father died from rabies Leaving five children alone To fend for themselves,'til on their own

It is so sad.... ! Getting orphaned at a young age is unfortunate. A person dying of rabies is even more unfortunate. A powerful, nonet eliciting strong emotions dear Sara.

Yes, Valsa, it was a sad situation. He went out to feed the dogs and a dog attacked him. I don't know if it was his dog or a stray. This was back in the early 1900's so it is possible that inoculations were not available back then. They did have medicine to treat it, but it did not arrive in time. Thanks for the visit. Sara K

Bill, without a father was like being alone because he was the support, the protector and the leader of the family. It was hard for my mother when she was little, and life was never easy but no one ever said it would be. Thanks for the visit. Sara K

Thank you for your understanding comments, Tom. I appreciate the visit. The family went back to her maternal grandparents and lived. The oldest child was 12 years old and could help with farm work, so there was some support there from the older generation. Life is not always easy. Sara K
