Orphaned

She
Felt some
Emotion
Because she had been
Left orphaned, at  age five
Her father died from rabies
Leaving five children alone
To fend for themselves,'til on their own

He went out to feed the dogs and a dog attacked him. I don't know if it was his dog or a stray. This was back in the early 1900's so it is possible that inoculations were not available back then. They did have medicine to treat it, but it did not arrive in time. Thanks for the visit. Sara K

The oldest child was 12 years old and could help with farm work, so there was some support there from the older generation. Life is not always easy. Sara K
