Only Pretend
The wind catches my spirit, letting it fly.
It soars high on gossamer wings.
Pirouetting, dancing across the sky.
Lilting music in air, my heart sings.
Euphoric, I rise to a new height,
I reach for the clouds and beyond.
Free and joyful, a heart's delight.
Every part of me, yearns to respond.
Dawn chases away the night.
The morning sky is all aglow.
Heavenly bodies fade from sight,
acknowledging, it was time to go.
As the sun rose, I said goodbye,
my mystical flight had come to the end.
But I knew that I had touched the sky,
Or was it...only pretend?
