Only Longing

I think of you sometimes - your strong arms around me - and a white cloud envelops me gleaming. At times the cloud is grey, for life rains down on me. You are not here; I have only. . . longing. 'A BRIAN STRAND PREMIERE no 1211' Poetry Contest

Oh, this cinquain is poignant and achingly beautiful, Andrea. The emotions easily overflow the small space of your cinquain in the most vivid and splendid way. Congratulations for your wonderful win in Brian's contest. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

The Cinquain form is ideal for the emotion expressed. Well done, Andrea. :) Julia

I love this one too. It does seem he was looking for modern style. It was implied by his contest description, but was not explicit. Perhaps some other contest in the future for ours.

Simple but effective and I like the use of the contrasting opposites in the gleaming and longing
