Notes About The Poem

One Starry Night

Seduced in youth, by Venus' shining star
Soon, Mars and Jupiter, became my friends
I've seen the tiny Pluto from afar
And to the moon each night my thoughts ascend

I've been to every planet heaven holds
On many nights, I've strolled the Milky Way
Admired the greenest greens and goldest golds
It is the perfect end to every day

And yet, in silent stillness it remains
The peace it offers, in my trying times
It comforts me in soothing hushed refrains
It listens as I bare my soul in rhymes

When I was just a child, it winked and teased
One starry night, as I prayed on my knees.

Lovely Sonnet, Daniel, congratulations on your win. I can remember skies like the one you describe but now light pollution has obscured all but the brightest objects.

Hello Daniel. I am a believer in wishes and dreams and the night sky with all her stars. This entry is beautiful and the fact that you incorporated the child within the entry makes it more special and meaningful. All is right within the entry and words. Well done completely and entirely. Best of luck with the contest. Enjoy the night.
