One Right Shoe
One right shoe, a ballet flat,
Sat lonely on the street,
Wondering just why her mate
Left her so incomplete.
The passersby took note and shrugged,
Not curious enough
To waste their time on other people’s
Business or their stuff.
Yet in my head, I conjured up
Scenarios to solve
The mystery of why this coupling
Managed to dissolve.
