One Nation Under God From sea to shining sea, manifest destiny. Every American third grader, from 1960 and before, could recite all the most important facts, and tell you every score. That is when they really taught, "school". No one was a fool. Everyone was blessed who got to go. It was a big deal... freedom, and rights! We wore our best clothes, and tried to prepare. (God, Family, Country!) There were those that had, "less". There were some with "much". The common thread in Our flag... we were all equal. My classroom had every color, and not the rainbow flag. It had real kids, with everyday problems, and dreams of growing up in a land, loved and respected around the world. Yet the people now; they mock and laugh, and say it is a gaff...! To respect and stand, and lend a hand, and be more than... ...and not less.

Wonderfully expressed Ann. Things were different in those days for sure...respect was a key word taught to children and adults alike though I have a feeling that word is not even in the dictionary anymore.
