One Cigarette Is Never Enough

A self analyses Of where I'm at General observations Of the this and that The heavy smoking Will soon terminate What's left of my lungs Burnt to a helpless state An introspection Might clear the view Of my indifference Of the smog I choose It's indecision I'll suffocate myself Can't give it up now Zero nicotine is hell A realization Trapped in a hole There's no escaping Addiction takes its toll If not cautious Will self destruct While sick and coughing One cigarette is never enough...

I can feel it taking its toll on me, but I just can seem to stop.

Hard to quit Arturo...but like my daughter said, to me..."It will be harder to die, if I quit" meaning she will live longer. She finally quit. Nice pen about the hardship it places on ones ability to do so. Vickie

You really don't want to quit...You hear and see the sense...but it doesn't matter...Like everything else if you nip it in the bud you can better overcome it...Your daughter did...Thanks Vjckie

Well said, Arturo. I remember the days a long time ago that one cigarette wasn't enough. Till one day someone said, keep them handy so you can get to them if you need to. A month later gave the carton away to a neighbor unopen. But I was allergic to them, so I was sick all the time.

Fortunate not to have added a bad habit... for many it's a friend, in the smoke of memories a safe place to dwell, for others hands must hold the fire...there're countless reasons to be charmed to death by her desire...

I smoked for a year when I was a student then gave up because I couldn't afford it. I'm glad I did. Have you tried vaping? Good luck Arturo.

I guess we all have things we need to quit. Cigarettes is just one of them. I grew up with cigarettes in the family. In life I hear it said over and over, just use will power but that is much easier said than done. Life is not easy. I wish you the best with blessings........

It's like playing with death...and you don't seem to care...you don't believe it would happen to you...those dreaded consequences you will escape... far from the truth thou...it's a pre retirement plan...

If you are quitting, good for you! Certainly better than paying with nicotine tears. Life is tough, but the consequences of smoking are tougher. I hope only for the best for you.

Quitting smoking is one of the most difficult things for people. If you are trying to, I hope there is some way you can. Well done Arturo :)

Completely correct...

Sometimes when it gets to that point there is no reversing the damage. I've seen some quit and end up bad regardless but back when they didn't know what they do now... Hope this is fiction to go with the photo but if not best wishes whatever course you take. Hugs :)

Yes, I have observed it too...many people stop...and seem to get worse in health... that a killer...that's the terrorist...

Yes life is tough indeed but tougher is the habit of smoking, so many want to quit but don't have the will power, thank you for sharing this important poem. xo
