Once a Fool...

And you know that it’s time to go. Could it be that the star has fallen Far away from the midnight glow? And the spark that never lit a fire Burns out before it made a mark Hidden from the sun and moon It won’t be now, no, it won’t be soon It’s time to leave, time to grieve Time to glide within the eve Of daylight’s ending, closed shut door And they will still ask for more Fair or not they’ll hold your head Wishing you had chosen death instead So go, willing hearts, with moving memory Escape the owners tight fist grip They will want to tear and rip And break and tear again You’ll be strained, and the rain Will wash away The single truth that remains
