Once, When I Cared

Once, when I cared, I fought for your freedom, I fought for the future of you, I’d step in and stop the mistakes you were making, Protecting you all the way through, Those days when you gave up, and you just fought, Trying to lose all the things you could be, When you argued and screamed, discarding it all, Those days when you refused to see, That what you could do, who you could be, Was the greatest owner of right, Instead you chose to not own anything, Instead you just chose to fight. Once, when I cared, I fought for your future, I fought the demons inside you, But now, a young adult, you’re free to self harm, Now, I don't care what you do.
