Colorful ribbons follow the woman’s movements. I can almost see floating rainbows. Pale beauties unfurl ivory hued fans. I imagine swan wings fluttering. I chose both the ribbon dance and the fan dance for the Chinese New Year & Celebrations - Poetry Contest of Debbie Guzzi

A lovely poem, lyrical but with the brevity of a haiku.

You perfectly described one of the fabulous dances of the Chinese on their special occasion esp. New Year my very dear friend, Andrea. It reminds me when I taught 2 years in a Chinese School way back home in my country. My students loved to do this dance aside from the dragon dance. I loved and enjoyed reading your poem. Thank you so much for sharing! Biggest hugs! love lots, Leonora (smail pls. ty)

Beautiful! A few years ago I attended a show of acrobats and dancers from Shanghai. They were truly poetry in motion.

I like the movement that you have caught here. Nice imagery. Also came by so that you could have a laugh at my expense. I've been here for a little while now right? It was only last night that I noticed the "rating" box above this comment box. Now I understand what 7 means, on comments that people make. I'd even googled it to see what I was missing. 7 what a compliment.

Nice love he second verse the best, I've seen these type of dancers on tv before what a show they put on, you can't take your eyes off of them, not even for a moment, and they do look like rainbows floating, enjoyed reading this tonight it will send me to sleep with great visions of dancers and lovely ribbons, cheri

Andrea, I adore not only what you "see" when you look at ordinary things, but how you are able to transfer those visions through your pen... Kudos, dear friend... Loved this one when I read it yesterday, but waited to comment.. Feel like I am sucking up when I am entered in one's contest! Lol... Thank you for the placement in your contest... Although I know you know me better than that.. :-).....Hugs.. Arlene

A wonerful entry for the contest Andrea. I have seen these dancers on stage and they seem almost fourth dimensional.

What can I say? You never cease to amaze my friend...My brother, his family and ours went to the World's Fair in 1984 when it was in New Orleans. One of the venues we visited was the Korean exhibit. They had a stage show that featured native female dancers...We were spellbound! Next to the sky lift ride across the Mississippi River it is my favorite memory...

You painted the picture above so well. And not seeing the picture of the fan dance I can picture it as well. I love the line swan wings flutter.
