On This October Day

I sit in my garden gazing at the trees.
Leaves of gold, red, amber and orange fills the sky.
Some spinning downward, falling multidirectional.
A warm glow carpets the still green grass of fall.

The tree trunks look so much darker
Against the intense vibrant colored leaves.
The backlight of sun rays illuminates them,
Giving them an almost translucency.
It reminds me of stained glass against sky blue.
It seems like an energy is infused within these leaves,
Setting them afire on this October day.
A wondrous contentment it brings me.
Nature is certainly at her healing best today.

Big congrats, Connie! I remember this one from before. Autumn is my favourite season and you have done it total justice here. "Stained glass against sky blue" - Sigh. Wonderful!

Thank you JH for your delightful comment. I used to be a painter, canvas painting I did do. This is what I would have painted if I had taken out a brush instead of a quill. Warm Smiles, Connie

Thank you Debbie for you comment. Nature has music for those who listen- close your eyes, open your heart and listen with your soul, then open you eyes. Some people do not really use their ears to hear and their eyes to see. Warm smiles always, Connie

Thank you so much for your comment Sara. I wanted to describe in words instead of with paints and brushes on a canvas to create this vibrant October day in a poem form for Poetry Soup and its members.

As Heather said... you've captured Autumn perfectly! However, today here in Canada, the temperature reached 75 degrees. A last gasp I imagine! A nice write... welcome to the SOUP! Hugs, Jack
