On the News

I feel so frustrated, tangled up in a web I turn on the news, I feel before it has all been said Some young father has been killed protecting his home I didn't even notice a change in the news readers tone Because she's had practice reading over this line But the name and faces have just changed this time Some young lad got shot crossing the street I'm sure they said he was just off to buy some sweets Flicking through the paper reading between the lines Do they hold any remorse for taking these lives Some young lad stabbed his best friend at school To my own terror this just adds to the fuel I want to be able to let my kids out to play Without the fear they will all be lead a stray I don't want you to turn on the news and see Me clutching a lonely teddy, screaming why has this happened to me.
