On a Summer's Night

Her voice was like a whippoorwill's Her beauty made a man's heart swell They warned him to stay far away On married men she liked to prey He saw her on a summer's night Strolling in the pale moonlight He called to her, she held his hand Knees weak, he could barely stand... His passion spent, he headed home His faithful wife knew not he'd roamed His lover's tryst had not been seen She'd never know where he had been Yet he'd never love her as before ~ Sure, all's not fair in love and war

This is a wise piece. Men should be wary of letting another come between them and their wives.

Wonderful rhyming sequence. So smooth . And a subject well penned of the damage of deceit.

Man that is deep!! A kind of taboo subject that is real. Brave to take this subject on Gershon but as always so well penned....RT

Well written and well told for well it did unfold to reveal a hard hitting end. Dramatic, yes that, with rhyme and flow that rolled beautifully. I hope the wife finds her own love as well so it is her he must tell. Any part 2 coming? I really enjoyed and would stay tuned. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

This is so sad for the loving wife. There are many women who lure married men away from their loyal wives. He is darn lucky she never found out! Excellent expression of real life Gershon. : ) xxoo

Unfortunately, this does happen a lot more than we'd like to admit. Thanks for the support, Connie. :) gw
