Old Mother Twitchett - Nursery Ryhme

'Old Mother Twitchett had but one eye,
And a long tail which she let fly;
And every time she went through a gap,
A bit of her tail she left in a trap.'

Old Mother Twitchett' wasn't
always old,
A trap she left hoping someone
would fold.
She lived in a roof hole, for 200 years,
caged by her sister, 'Casket' who took
her shine.
Now in a castle surping lies with Jasmine
wine.
Old Mother Twitchett cringes in clay tears.

By midnight Old Mother Twitchett
would sing,
Whoever heard her eerie voice fell in a
spell ring.
"Be my favourite and be my mine,
Take this mask away and bend.
I in your place and you in blend.
That I may see my prince again divine."

A fairy girl who listened every night,
Lit her touch, held her friend - rug, tight.
They lived in a white bedsheet that roars,
Up the hills, down the valleys, they search,
Quaking and flying on branches, they perch.
Smoke from the roof, sounds from boars.

Old Mother Twitchett's eye was her mouth too,
Mr owl and Miss Mop Stick, her
voodoo.
Sight of Fairy and Rug on their flying sheet,
Moans and groans, another failed attempt.
It only was a tempting tempt.
Old mother twitchett' and crew hit the street.

"Halt now! Run not from me, I am
your help.
A portion I give, one drink and
a yelp."
Mother Twitchett gaze at her, looking for truth.
"And in return, I shall?" She asks.
"Only but a name is your task
In one I may find my roots
smooth."

Mother Twitchett' nods, lets her into the murky roof.
Cloud dances in orange, she sits in waiting
of proof.
"Hear me crystals of candle clathrate,
Let these crumbs of cinnamon Cark climb this ceiling.
Let the crumbling codes in this cabinet bring healing.
That she be herself and her twin this very state."

Dust in the air gilt yellow, twisting into
her nose.
Old mother twitchett' In levitation,
now Rose.
A ginger caramel latte with eyes and
mouth,
Only price paid was to eat her eye and
name a fairy,
Now a cherry, not Old Mother Twitchett who was scary.
No tails or traps, now with Mr. Duster in south.

This is very creative Tonye, I think Tom will love this one... The scenes of the fairy and her friend, Rug, embarking on a nocturnal quest under a "white bedsheet that roars" bring in a sense of adventure. The imagery of them searching "up the hills, down the valleys," and perching on branches imbues the poem with a dynamic, almost dreamlike quality. The presence of "smoke from the roof" and "sounds from boars" grounds their fantastical journey in a tangible, if surreal, reality. BOL in contest

This is very creative dear tonye, im not good with being funny or wacky in my poems and my sense of humor is strange so doubt anyone can relate haha. And the clever nature of your word weaving here deserves to be praised and highlighted! You can really get yourself to write on any theme in such a moving manner! I love the storytelling too! This nursery rhyme i dont really know. But “Mother Twitchett' nods, lets her into the murky roof. Cloud dances in orange, she sits in waiting of proof.” I especially love those lines and how youv so descriptively delivered that as well as how youv written rhymes here is so catchy! “ Halt now! Run not from me, I am your help. A portion I give, one drink and a yelp”’ made me smile hah! Best wishes! Nailed it

I could join you in that tea of not being funny or wacky. I always prefer dark humour and it's too coded/mature for everyone to get it. Hahaha. I really did challenge myself for this. I'm not even a fan of nursery rhymes, I've just been enjoying it recently especially Tommy's. So I did task myself here... And I'm happy it came out nicely. Thank you so much, I hope you're doing okay.

That would be a lovely book to read Dear Rosey. We need to get a break from the realities of this world sometimes and get lost in the fantasy world. I appreciate your Fav. Thank you so much. Hugs.
