Looking at a group of children playing on the street, and wishing I could go back in time even just for an hour to be happy, carefree and a child again. Oh to be a child again To sing and laugh and cry again To splash and jump in a puddle again To climb a tree so high again To fly through the air on a swing again To watch the waves come in again To watch the waves go out again To fly a kite so high again To dance to a favorite song again To snuggle into Mums arms again To ride a bike with dad again. Oh to be a child again For just an hour- A child again

Thanks for sharing this... making me nostalgic of my childhood days... Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

Maria: The best writers bring out the best comments. However: Someone mentioned childhood days were "carefree, innocent times". Fortunately they didn't live in my neighborhood. Often my days weren't carefree and I was seldom innocent. :o) Thanks to you and your readers for a great time thinking back. Those were the days my friends, we thought they'd never end. oldbuck

Yes unfortunately so many children sad to say miss out on those times. I was reading the story of Michael Jackson the other day, really sad. Thanks for visiting and the generous review Oldbuck, I really appreciate it...Maria

How lovely, Maria! What a pity many children have not experienced a happy childhood. I would willingly go back to those days ... we were not rich, life was simple, and yet we were happy and satisfied with the little we had! Luckily we have special memories which we can turn to in times of need. Regards // paul

Hi Maria. I just came from your latest entry of beauty and emotion. Now I come to a feel good entry and one with play and spirit. I love this. Yes, to be a child again. How true. We can learn so much from them and their innocent outlook and eyes. Well done and expressed.

My dear friend Maria, what a charming poem! Is nothing wrong to wish to be a child again if you had a happy childhood but what happens of those who have been born in misery? Much enjoyed my friend! A 7!

Thanks my dear friend for the visits and high score. A serious issue indeed - children who have, and are continually being deprived of that freedom. We are, and will continue to fly the flag for them in our small little way. If everyone followed this principal it would grow exponentially - after all it only takes a little snow flake to start an avalanche. On the new labels of our Earth Bubba mother and baby products we make a commitment to donate a percentage of the sale to children's charities.

A wonderful trip down memory lane, guided by an enthusiastic and spirited heart. This is a poem that flirts with the senses and fills the mind with sights and sounds so familiar and treasured as part of growing up. Emile.

I know, right? If I become senile when older, I hope I believe myself to be a child. I enjoyed this. You know, there is much activity in your poem that isn't off limits to adults, you should really go out and play! I do and will as long as I can, and doing so will set you free - for a little while anyway. This is a great topic for a poem and, again, I truly enjoyed it. Poetry hugs, CayCay

Thanks CayCay, yes so will I. I do try to be a kid at times and enjoy all these activities, but what can you say? I'm greedy and want the whole experience with the wondrous mind of a child....if only for an hour? Cheers.
