~ oh, dreams ~
to be moonlight
a thousand silver doubloons
gilding the slumped shoulders of the sea
bewitching enough, perhaps, to coax a
first kiss
or weave a poet from a pauper
~ oh, loves ~
to be a moonbeam
a bamboo brush dipped in periwinkle
daubed on silken skin, pearled and
porcelain
entwining limbs and latent hearts
swirled to pools of passion
~ oh, worlds ~
to be the moon
a front seat at the circus
harlequins and jugglers and high-wire
acts
where the animals run the show
and nothing gets out alive
~ oh, moon ~
oh, wise.
