Imagine your own life a garden spot where trees might symbolize your family, for they provide the shade which you have sought when times are hard, abiding constantly. The flowers that pop up each spring are those acquaintances and friends that you hold dear. The best of them for me would be each rose that beautifies my life year after year. In certain seasons, butterflies appear. You love the sight of them. They make you smile. However, only in the sun they thrive, and in your garden, they stay but a while. Replaceable are they; when comes the rain they’ll flutter off – to not be seen again. Written March 22, 2017 for Julia Ward's Someone, or Something, Replaceable Poetry Contest

Love the analogy here, a genealogical tree of sorts with a garden of friends and a few fleeting acquaintances. Great piece, Congratulations, Andrea. It's a different look at the usual treasured butterfly.

How sweet this is Andrea!:) I have some snow drop flowers planted near my front porch. Our early warm weather forced them out in February and then single digit temps this month almost killed them...but just as you have said so well here like our relationships they are hearty and bounced right back! Nice write

Hi sweetie pie... it's been awhile since I read a sonnet of yours and this one for me comes as bittersweet-- I like how you took on flowers & butterflies here, and of how they can seem fleeting in our lives-- that aspect was fresh for me--- hopefully though, some do turn out as trees and are sturdier through the years... I'll try to check back again for those poems you were telling me about... catch you again :)

A lovely poem of heartfelt truths, some happy some sad. Many things often bloom but for a season, some may return, yet maybe not... who can know the reasons... if any do exist. But family is stronger than a tree... awesomely written.
