We've sought our sextant, fair and free, Thus bound with dreams, this starlit sea - Should other sentience thrive, perchance, And wend the depths of great expanse. Abaft the beam glow maelstroms, bright, That guide us through the endless night, From star-to-star we bound and prance, And wend the depths of great expanse. Such wonders found, and more to glean - Strange worlds no eyes have ever seen, But bent with time, we can't but glance, And wend the depths of great expanse. We strive to know the stars, white hot, And learn the myst'ries physics wrought, To spin those spheres of grand romance, And wend the depths of great expanse. While here-and-there, we'll find a world Much like our own, with bounties, furled, Our stores refreshed, we then advance, And wend the depths of great expanse. One day we'll reach a realm, quite grand, With care-worn hearts, drop anchor, and Upon those shores, commend our dance ... And wend the depths of great expanse. ~ Honorable Mention ~ in the "Strand Select 7, Any Form, Any Theme" Poetry Contest, Brian Strand, Judge & Sponsor. ~ Honorable Mention ~ in the "Brian's Select H, Any Form, Any Theme" Poetry Contest, Brian Strand, Judge & Sponsor.

Seems to me like it's about, God, at least that's how I read it. Sounds you're in like heaven, exploring and praising His creation. Beautiful!

Another masterpiece just like the mind from whence it comes-- and relative to your comment - is not that "Realm quite grand" where God resides? I could find no better port to "drop anchor"!

It's still a great Kyrielle, Greg. Perhaps you have time to write another for the contest. You work well in this form! Hugs, carolyn PS- Hope your new year is off the a great start!

You may have forgotten it was to be about God, but I'm certain He is not forgotten by you. Contest entry or not, I'm glad you posted this one. Sometimes a kyrielle can be banal because of the repeated line, but not this one. The third and last verses are my favorites.

You're welcome, Greg. Your attached pictures are always so intriguing, this one being no exception. Cortana led me to its source.

Oh, that is so very sweet of you, Lin, and I'm so happy you enjoyed this one! I almost didn't post it, then thought - you know, there's a REASON this happened, and it can't be to just keep it to myself. He has a purpose in everything, and without sharing, a poem really isn't really set free ...
