Ode to a Pressure Cooker

In my kitchen, there's a treasure,
scrumptious dinner, it helps me prepare.
Under pressure it combines flavors,
Serves proudly, mouthwatering savors.

This wonder made of stainless steel,
Shines like a star among my utensils.
Rice, beans, soup, or stew,
Ready in a flash for the whole crew.

Safety valve and rubber gasket,
Ensure this helper is not a threat.
Though it shrieks like a train,
This gadget is a faithful friend.

I rely on this device a lot,
As it gives peace to my heart.
So, here's to the pressure cooker's plea,
Transforming ingredients into a glee!

I enjoyed your ode, Smita. Slow cookers are handy to have too; turn them on in the morning and your meal is ready at suppertime. John

Been using one for years, now in the pleasurable form of an Instant Pot. Check out my poem “Here Come the HUNGARIANS,” to peruse one of our family’s specialties. https://www.poetrysoup.com/poem/here_come_the_hungarians_825744 I loved descriptions and glee! Hugs!

A wonderful ode to your pressure cooker. I must admit I have always been a little scared of them.

Sounds as if your pressure cooker works two ways: As it pressures and pressed the food together, it takes the pressure off of you. Excelsior, Gershon

The importance and value of a pressure cooker in the kitchen are only known by devoted kitchen ladies. You seem to have mastered the functionality and benefits of using a pressure cooker to prepare delicious meals, nicely penned, and thanks for your comment on my page.
