OCTOBER 1ST October 1st says my mini-calendar It’s one of those language poppers This one Spanish “Esta lloviendo!” it says (It’s pouring rain!) Damn right! Cold too And I’ve been griping all summer about the heat Have you noticed – of course you have – how the elderly constantly complain? I am one of these ummm those So you needn’t take offense ancient ones Why is it people stay away from me? I’m clean Fairly neat Only an occasional flatulent rumble Walk slow Drive slow Keep the talking-to-myself at a minimum Seldom slobber And my animals simply dote on me However – I do complain a lot But in a reasonably soft voice Thing is I know what a mess this country is in And I don’t mind telling everyone! “Now in the good old days____________________”

You're really a lot more pleasant than you make yourself out to be in this hilarious poem, Daver. Of course, I wouldn't know about the flatulence, haven't never met you in person. Now pick up your grumpy but and read Diane Locksley's "Grumpy Grizzly." She dedicated it to you, dear! Love, Carolyn
